Last Sunday, 12 April, local government elections were held in two regions of Russia. Deputies of one representative body and the head of one municipal formation were elected.
Khabarovsk Krai: village head secured contracts worth 250,000 roubles for her husband
Early elections for the head of Sogdinskoye rural settlement took place in Khabarovsk Krai.
In June last year, the Verkhnebureinsky District Court granted a claim by the governor of Khabarovsk Krai, Dmitry Demeshin, for the early termination of powers of Yekaterina Repina due to loss of trust. The district prosecutor’s office established that in 2022–2023 the ex-head of Sogdinskoye settlement concluded eight municipal contracts with her spouse for contract work with a total value of over 250,000 roubles.
Interestingly, the territorial election commission scheduled the early election of the head on 30 January, and five days later the local council of deputies adopted a decision to consent to the abolition of its settlement and its incorporation into a new okrug as part of the municipal reform.
Two registered candidates contested the post: driver Yevgeny Kosobryukhov and local administration employee Oleg Kharlamov. Both are self-nominated candidates.
Following the voting, the post of head went to Oleg Kharlamov.
Komi: elections on snowmobiles
Elections of deputies to the Council of the rural settlement “Yormitsa” were held in the Republic of Komi.
The settlement is located in a hard-to-reach area, and in the spring period it regularly suffers disaster from flooding with ice jams. In autumn, access is possible only by air. In summer, there is a river connection along the Pechora River with the district centre — the village of Ust-Tsilma. The possibility of reaching it by car appears only in winter.

The elections here were scheduled after four out of seven deputies resigned at their own request, and the council was left without a quorum.

Nine registered candidates contested the seven seats to be filled: seven from United Russia and two from A Just Russia.
116 people took part in the voting; as a result, five seats went to candidates from United Russia and two to candidates from A Just Russia.

Nine candidates contested seven deputy seats in the representative body of one municipality in a majoritarian electoral district.
Total since the start of the new electoral cycle
After the single voting day on 14 September 2025, 28 electoral campaigns for the election of heads of municipalities have taken place. 78 candidates took part in them.
An election of a deputy to the representative body of one subject of the Russian Federation took place. Five candidates took part in it. A candidate from United Russia was elected as the deputy.
Elections of deputies to 85 local representative bodies took place; 457 deputy seats were filled in majoritarian districts. 1,055 candidates were registered in majoritarian districts.
